A Bronx man is facing serious charges after allegedly torturing a stray cat that he had brought into his home. According to a press release by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, David Mosley, 26, was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to charges of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Torturing and Injuring Animals. Justice George Villegas will see him back in court on March 17, for a hearing on these allegations.
The investigation around Mosley began rapidly to unfold after posts on social media aroused suspicion and concern. On October 11, 2025, Mosley reportedly posted a photo of himself with a live cat on Instagram. Fast forward to October 22, and another image surfaced—this one featuring a cat lying motionless amidst what looked to be blood. This stark difference triggered the commencement of a deeper probe by authorities.
When detectives searched Mosley’s apartment on October 29, they discovered dried biological material that tested positive as feline blood by the ASPCA. Surveillance footage from Mosley’s building also showed him entering with the cat while it was alive on October 9, launching a contradiction to Mosley’s claims that he found the animal post-mortem. District Attorney Darcel D.
