Driver Called East Rutherford Cops Bragging He Outran Them — Then They Arrested Him: Police

Vishal Bhatt called police on Thursday, Jan. 29, who was upset about a motor vehicle ticket he received the day before, East Rutherford Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone said.

Due to comments Bhatt was making during the call, and after he gave his location as Oak Street in East Rutherford, officers were dispatched to the area of Paterson Avenue and Oak Street to check on his well-being, the captain said. When officers arrived, they located a white Kia Rio being operated by Bhatt, Yannacone said.

Once Bhatt saw police, he sped off, ran a stop sign, improperly passed another vehicle, and nearly struck an oncoming car, according to Yannacone…
