A Palisades Parkway Police officer first noticed a white two-door BMW parked on the access road to State Line Lookout on Saturday, Feb. 7, at approximately 2 p.m., Lt. Raymond E. Walter said. Officers returned to the area around 5:30 p.m. and found the vehicle still parked in the same location.
An officer checked the surrounding area and saw footprints in the snow leading toward the edge of the cliff, police said. The Maywood Police Department responded with a bloodhound, which tracked a scent from the parked vehicle to the edge of the cliff, according to police.
Closter Rescue also responded and conducted a search of the area, but no one was located, police said. Due to high winds and weather conditions, aviation units were unable to canvass the area at that time, Walter said…
