HACKENSACK — The city Board of Education has agreed to pay $49,500 to settle a lawsuit filed by an elementary school teacher who said she was subjected to discrimination because she was pregnant.
Danielle Jackson, a teacher at Fairmount Elementary School, filed the lawsuit in April 2024 against the school board and Eric Boateng, the school’s former principal, saying that in 2023 she experienced harassment over latenesses and absences due to a high-risk pregnancy that required doctor’s appointments and monitoring.
