A 47-year-old man whose body was found on a street bench is among at least 20 people who died amid recent freezing temperatures in New York City.
Philip Piuma, an alarm company dispatcher, was found dead on the morning of Jan. 27, outside of a Key Food supermarket in the Queens neighborhood of Flushing, The New York Times, Gothamist and the New York Daily Newsreported.
According to the Times and Gothamist, Piuma had left his home in Bayside in the early afternoon of Jan. 26 to pick up a prescription for his uncle at a CVS pharmacy. His stepfather, John Sandrowsky, said that detectives told him Piuma had sustained injuries to his nose and eye socket after falling twice, possibly outside of the Key Food…
