Cream Cheese Recalled in a Major Region After Detected Contamination

Sunday night social media videos began to share out the snowy views in New York City, as forecasts predicted the first blizzard there in a decade.

For New Yorkers counting on the corner bodega or bagel shop to be open, there’s a foodservice recall to have on radar. A weekend FDA alert revealed that 14 flavors of bulk-sized cream cheese containers were under recall. Made Fresh Salads, Inc., a Long Island food producer, reportedly discovered listeria contamination, as the alert explains how “a routine sampling program by the company which revealed that a part of the mixer used to manufacture finished products was contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.”

The announcement says the recall affects five-pound tubs of the following cream cheese flavors and varieties:

  • Apple Cinnamon Cream Cheese
  • Caramel Apple Cream Cheese
  • Blueberry Cream Cheese
  • Garlic & Herb Cream Cheese
  • Jalapeno Cream Cheese
  • Jalapeno Cheddar Cream Cheese
  • Lox Cream Cheese
  • Scallion Cream Cheese
  • Strawberry Cream Cheese
  • Sundried Tomato Cream Cheese
  • Vegetable Cream Cheese
  • Walnut Raisin Cream Cheese
  • Whipped Cream Cheese
  • Tofu Whipped

The products were distributed “in the New York City area,” the alert reads, with the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens named as three specific points of distribution. The expiration date for all product is said to be February 27, 2026…
