The incident unfolded around 12:30 p.m. on February 14 near the corner of Stratford Avenue and East 172nd Street. The girl had just stepped off a bus when the pair approached her.[1] They wasted no time. One shoved her hard against a wall while the other ripped two necklaces from around her neck.
Authorities valued the stolen items at about $1,500. The entire robbery lasted mere moments in broad daylight, yet left the young victim shaken. Witnesses did not intervene, according to initial reports.[2]
