Grim Find on Red Hook Waterfront as Body Pulled From Pier Rocks

A grim scene unfolded along the Red Hook waterfront Saturday afternoon as a body was recovered from rocks near the Red Hook Pier on Van Brunt Street, police and FDNY officials confirmed. Witnesses at the scene described the remains as “looking like a skeleton” and “small in stature.”

Responders worked along the shoreline to recover the remains and secure the area while early crews coordinated with water units, according to News 12 New York.

The Office of the Medical Examiner was on the way to the scene to determine a cause of death, as reported by News 12 New York. Officials had not released the victim’s identity, and the cause of death remained under review.
