Bedford Park: 40-Year-Old Woman Arrested following Assault on Senior inside Subway Station

The NYPD said they have arrested a woman in connection with an assault on an elderly person in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx. Police had been asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photos who they said was wanted in connection with the assault in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx.

They said that on Monday, March 9, at around 6.20 p.m. at the Bedford Park Boulevard subway station, an unidentified woman got into a verbal dispute with a 69-year-old male victim inside an elevator at the location. “The female individual proceeded to strike [the] victim with a closed fist in the face multiple times,” a police spokesperson said. “The female individual fled on foot eastbound on Bedford Park Boulevard to parts unknown.”

Police said the victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention on scene. They said the suspect was described as female, had a dark complexion, and was last seen wearing green pants, a green shirt, a blue, long-sleeve shirt, black sneakers, and a white/black handbag.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said Maritza J. Meade, 40, from the Bedford Park section of The Bronx was arrested and on Thursday, March 11, at 6.40 p.m. in the confines of the 49th Precinct, which covers some or all of the Bronx neighborhoods of Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens, and Pelham Gardens…
