Teenager Attempting Suicide Rescued From the Hudson River

A tense situation unfolded Saturday morning along the banks of the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, NY, when a distraught teenager was attempting to take her own life.

Female Falls Into the Hudson River

According to the City of Poughkeepsie PBA, it began on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at approximately 10:57 a.m., when Poughkeepsie City 911 received a call reporting that a female had fallen into the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Multiple police patrol units, along with a City of Poughkeepsie Police drone, were dispatched to the banks of the river to investigate.

Distraught Teenager Attempting Suicide

Police said that as officers arrived at the scene, they were able to locate a female clinging to the dock pilings in Poughkeepsie’s Waryas Park. Once she was located, officers were able to successfully rescue the “distraught” 18-year-old female.

She subsequently told police that she was attempting suicide by jumping into the Hudson River…
