Community showing support for beloved doorman attacked in Upper West Side building lobby

Neighbors came together Tuesday night for their 79-year-old doorman who was attacked in their Upper West Side building’s lobby over a week ago.

For 20 years, he has served the residents of the apartment building. He made sure the brass was always polished on West 88th Street and Broadway.

They called him “George.” An easy nickname. His family asked Eyewitness News to keep his Romanian name private.

Most recently, the 79-year-old doorman worked the overnight shift so tenants could sleep in peace, but then his peace was shattered…
