Dispute Over Quarters At Carlstadt Laundromat Turns Violent, Cops Charge

Carlstadt police responded on March 21 to Fresh Meadows Laundromat at 440 Hackensack St. on a report of a dispute, according to Detective Sgt. Mark Wong.

Officers Matthew Smith and Steven Linde arrived and met with the victim, who said he had been struck in the face by another patron, later identified as James Hamack, 58, Wrong said.

The victim told officers the altercation began after he mistakenly grabbed quarters from a shared table inside the business. He was then confronted by Hamack, who grabbed his arm, pushed him toward the table, and punched him on the left side of his face, police said…
