Man Kicks Edgewater Officer In Head, Lunges At Another During Arrest: Cops

Police responded at approximately 1 a.m. to The Metropolitan in Edgewater for a report of an active domestic violence incident, according to Edgewater Police Chief Donald Martin.

Patrolmen Delgado, Tibus, and Spaccavento arrived and separated the individuals involved before determining that Davian Mercedes, 18, of Edgewater, was the aggressor, the chief said.

Mercedes was placed under arrest following the initial investigation. While being processed, Mercedes allegedly kicked Patrolman Viola in the head and leg and lunged toward Patrolman Spaccavento as officers attempted to complete the booking process, according to the chief…
