More than $800 had been raised as of Tuesday, April 7, for Charlie Seifert, who went into cardiac arrest in front of residents during a March 23 New Milford Mayor and Council meeting, according to police and a GoFundMe created by Megan DeZerga.
Seifert, who is about to turn 35, was sitting in the courtroom during a crowded meeting about a proposed redevelopment project when he suddenly collapsed at 8:21 p.m., according to New Milford Police Chief Brian T. Clancy.
He was not breathing and had no pulse when officers rushed in and began life-saving measures, police said. Officers used an automated external defibrillator and delivered two shocks before EMS arrived, according to authorities.
