Bronx Gunman Sought After East 163rd Street Gunfire Scare

Early Monday evening, the sound of multiple gunshots shattered the routine on a Bronx block, leaving residents rattled and detectives with a fresh case on their hands. The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. in front of 503 East 163 Street, within the area covered by the NYPD’s 42nd Precinct. Police say the person who opened fire took off on foot and is still on the loose, with no suspects publicly identified and no injuries reported at this time.

NYPD Crime Stoppers Posts Wanted Alert

On Thursday, NYPD Crime Stoppers put out a “WANTED FOR RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT” alert on X, saying an unidentified individual fired a gun several times in front of 503 East 163 Street before running away. The post asks anyone with information to DM @NYPDTips or call the Crime Stoppers hotline and includes a brief transcript of the incident. According to NYPD Crime Stoppers, investigators are counting on the public’s help to put a name to the shooter.

People who know something but do not want their names in the mix are encouraged to reach out anonymously. Tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-577-TIPS or by using other Crime Stoppers channels.
