The incident happened on Saturday, April 11, at approximately 8:10 p.m. in the area of 380 West Pleasantview Ave., when an officer on patrol saw two individuals engaged in an altercation, Police Chief Michael Antista said.
A Stop & Shop loss prevention officer directed the officer’s attention to the suspect, later identified as Wallace Griffin, of Passaic, who then ran toward West Pleasantview Avenue, according to Antista. The officer ordered the suspect to stop and initiated a brief foot pursuit before subduing and arresting the individual.
Police said the suspect stole coffee, dish soap, and steaks before hitting the loss prevention officer in the arm. Griffin was charged with robbery, shoplifting, and resisting arrest and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, authorities said…
