Fire on Amtrak train car near Penn Station leaves at least two ‘seriously’ injured amid travel chaos

A fire has broken out in a train car near New York’s Penn Station, sparking chaos and a huge emergency response. The New York fire service is on the scene as services have been suspended.

The blaze broke out on an Amtrak work train in the West Side Rail Yard, sparking major disruptions for commuters on Friday. Two people are believed to have sustained “serious” injuries, according to 1010 WINS news anchor Glenn Schuck.

He also said there was a “very large response from the FDNY,” while adding it “seems like all the firefighters are going to be ok as well.” Schuck said in a video clip posted to X that the fire was in an Amtrak train and began at about 1.30 am EST. He says the fire was being treated from an emergency access point in the building, and fire trucks can be seen behind him in the footage…
