Teen Shot Near Brooklyn Sneaker Shop On Busy Homecrest Strip

A 19-year-old man was shot Monday afternoon near a sneaker and streetwear shop in Brooklyn’s Homecrest neighborhood, sending shoppers and pedestrians diving for cover along a normally bustling commercial strip.

The gunfire rang out just after 2:30 p.m., according to witnesses, who said they heard multiple shots and watched people sprint into storefronts and up stoops to get out of the line of fire. The chaos left one person wounded and drew a swift police response along the Avenue U and Coney Island Avenue corridor.

Officers later found the 19-year-old about a block from the reported shooting site, outside 2410 Coney Island Ave, and established a second crime scene in front of 1213 Ave. U, according to News12. EMS took the victim to Maimonides Medical Center, where he is expected to recover, police told the outlet. Authorities have not released further details about what led up to the shooting.
