New Buildings on Former Nursing Home Parking Lot Will Bring 297 Apartments to Bed Stuy

One new 11-story building has topped out on a former nursing home parking lot and ground preparation is under way for a second, which will together bring 297 apartments to Bed Stuy’s Fulton Street.

The two-building complex is going up on the parking lot of nursing home Brooklyn Gardens, which spans the block between Herkimer and Fulton streets, between Rochestor and Buffalo avenues. The buildings are rising on Fulton Street on either side of the main nursing home, which will retain a small parking lot in front of its Herkimer Street entrance.

The westernmost building at 1826 Fulton Street has topped out at 11 stories. Permits show it will include 213 apartments. The windows were installed, but scaffolding remains on the front and a section of the rear facade. Work on the second building is yet to begin, but excavation for foundations kicked off. Permits show it will also reach 11 stories, and have 84 apartments…
