New AARP poll has Micah Lasher ahead in NY-12 race

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – New York’s 12th Congressional District could be decided by voters over 50, and they’re going with Micah Lasher, according to a new poll from AARP.

In a new poll with Siena College Research Institute, AARP found state Assemblymember Micah Lasher leading the pack with 32% of voters over 50. It’s notable, considering voters over 50 historically make up more than 70% of voter turnout in congressional primaries, according to an AARP study.

The new poll has state Assemblymember Alex Bores following Lasher with 21% of potential voters. Donald Trump foe George Conway and social media personality Jack Schlossberg garnered 13% and 9%, respectively. Another 21% are undecided.

“These voters are looking for leaders who understand the challenges they face every day—from rising housing and grocery costs to protecting Social Security and Medicare and supporting family caregivers,” said AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel.
