Panic as collapsing Manhattan skyscraper ‘continues to move’ with Midtown evacuated

The New York City skyscraper that partially collapsed this morning is still unstable, according to mid-day reports.

The area was evacuated earlier today, after two supporting pillars buckled, causing five stories to cave in. The New York Fire Department said the call came in at 7:57 a.m., claiming that bricks were falling from a 33-story high-rise at 235 East 42nd Street. The building was under construction at the time of the incident.

Ten surrounding buildings have been evacuated, and according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, the building remains unsteady and the situation is ongoing…
