For the first time ever, NYC is officially funding pet food pantries and free spay/neuter services in the new city budget

The latest NYC news has some paw-sitively exciting updates for the furry friends of our favorite city!

Pets are just as much a part of New York City as yellow cabs and corner bodegas. From dogs happily pokingtheirheads out of totebags on the subway to cats lounging in sunny apartment windows, colorful birds chirping from fire escapes, and every hamster, rabbit, turtle, and fish calling the five boroughs home, our city simply wouldn’t be the same without its four-legged (and sometimes feathered or finned) residents.

And now, there’s even more reason for New York pet parents to celebrate. As part of the newly approved $125.8 billion Fiscal Year 2027 city budget, NYC is investing in programs that will help make pet ownership more affordable for thousands of residents…
