Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann exchanged letters with Happy Face Killer Keith Hunter Jesperson in prison, sheriff reveals

Rex Heuermann — who has admitted to killing at least eight women in the Gilgo Beach murders on Long Island — briefly struck up a correspondence with another infamous serial killer, Wonderwall.com can report.

According to Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon, former long-haul truck driver Keith Hunter Jesperson, 71, best known as the Happy Face Killer — who confessed to murdering eight women across the country in the 1990s — reached out to the incarcerated former New York architect, 62, first.

Serial killer sent warnings to Heuermann

Jesperson, who is serving multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole in Oregon, wrote to Heuermann at Suffolk County’s Riverhead Correctional Facility in New York, offering what he called prison advice.

In a text message to podcaster Keith Rovere, who hosts “The Lighter Side of True Crime,” Jesperson said, “The problem with Rex is his size — he thinks prison will be a cakewalk because of how big his ego is. I had to tell him the little guys work out, too, to beat up us big guys. He will have some fights, even in protective custody.”…
