New York City bus riders could soon see faster commutes and shorter waits under a sweeping new transit plan unveiled by Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Governor Kathy Hochul.
Dubbed “Next Stop: Fast Buses, Better Service,” the initiative is being billed as the largest overhaul of New York City’s bus network in history. The plan commits nearly $882 million in city funding over the next five years, including $254 million in operating funds and $628 million in capital investments, to improve bus service across all five boroughs.
