New York City has launched a new Talk to Tenants campaign that will send trained volunteers door to door in apartment buildings with histories of serious or repeated housing violations.
The campaign is intended to help renters understand their legal rights, form tenant associations and work collectively to demand safer living conditions. The initial outreach will focus on East Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood and Flatbush before expanding into other communities across the five boroughs.
