The Ramapo Police Department conducted numerous Drone as First Responder (DFR) public safety missions Thursday evening as part of an ongoing initiative by Town Supervisor Michael Specht and Police Chief Daniel Hyman to strengthen safety and security in the Town’s business districts.
Separately, following Thursday’s stabbing attack in New York City, the department increased both ground and aerial patrols in areas with high pedestrian activity as a precaution. Police emphasized that there is no known threat to the Town of Ramapo but said the additional patrols are intended to provide reassurance while enhancing the department’s ability to respond quickly should the need arise.
Throughout the evening, DFR pilots operated the department’s Skydio drone platform from two strategically located drone docks across the Town.
