New York City to fast-track urgent housing cases

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — In an effort to tackle some of New York City’s most dangerous housing issues, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that the most urgent Housing Court cases will now be fast-tracked, sometimes appearing in court on the same day they are filed.

The cases include buildings under major vacate orders or facing hazardous conditions, and buildings with broken elevators, no heat, hot water, electricity, gas, or water.
