A Long Island architect who played a crucial role in a New York City building scam won’t face criminal consequences, authorities announced Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Kevin McCray, who worked out of Mineola, instead cooperated in the investigation and will only be banned from working with NYC’s Department of Buildings in the future, the New York Attorney General’s office said.
McCray made a deal with Basic Group, a company that helps with renovation and construction paperwork, according to investigators. But McCray’s deal wasn’t standard — it was instead specifically designed to skirt New York City building codes, authorities said…
