Detective Paul Douglas led the case with Detective Patrick Leahy of the Raynham Police Department. Investigators found the victim met a man in Raynham who allegedly posed as a federal agent and said the money was needed to “stop the Russians.” Using ALPR, video, and investigative work, they identified the suspect as Amritpal Singh.
With help from the FBI Metro Boston Gang Task Force, HSI, ICE, the U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police, NYPD, and New York State Police, Singh was located in New York, taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals, and returned to Massachusetts.
He was arraigned today in Taunton District Court and held as a fugitive from justice on an out-of-state warrant for an alleged similar offense. Investigators also developed information linking him to a larger criminal organization. Federal authorities determined he was unlawfully present in the United States…
