A Mineola-based architect has been barred for life from doing business with the New York City Department of Buildings after New York State Attorney General Latitia James’ investigators found he submitted renovation applications without reviewing or supervising the plans.
Kevin McCray, a licensed architect with professional certification privileges, agreed to a settlement with Attorney General Letitia James’ office over his role in a scheme involving Basic Group, an architecture and construction consulting firm. Basic Group will dissolve, and its owner, Wing Huang, also was barred for life from doing business with the city Buildings Department. Efforts to reach McCray were unavailing.
“Fair and safe housing begins with honest developers,” James said in a statement. “Basic Group put their impatience above safety and, as a result, put New York tenants at risk.”…
