Kings Plaza is an enclosed mall at Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U in Brooklyn, New York. Macy’s and Alexander’s built it together and opened it in 1970, each of them with a four-story store at one end of the concourse.
Alexander’s stopped retailing in 1992. Sears took most of that four-story box and held it for almost 19 years. Sears closed in 2016, so the box was divided again among four stores.
Macy’s never got divided. It’s the only anchor still trading in the space it opened in, four floors at the east end. Everything at the other end is a piece of a store that closed…
