Nor’easter bringing flooding, strong winds from NC to New England

A nor’easter will bring coastal flooding, high surf, wind and rain to parts of the East Coast through the weekend, with impacts from North Carolina to New England.

New York City and especially Boston need to stay weather aware this weekend.

The nor’easter is beginning to strengthen Thursday and is heading north. Prior to this strengthening, the pressure difference between the low pressure off the East Coast and high pressure over eastern Canada already is causing gusty winds along the Eastern Seaboard. Widespread gusts of 30-40 mph are ongoing as of Thursday morning, with a peak gusts over 40 mph reported along the coast of North Carolina.

And those persistent winds are piling water from the ocean and bays along parts of the coast. Water levels are expected to reach major flood state in the during high tide Thursday morning…
