Two individuals accused of stabbing an off-duty New York Police Department officer in the Bronx last week have been identified, as a massive manhunt continues, police commissioner Jessica Tisch revealed on Tuesday.
The men, 25-year-old D’Angelo Caraballo and 24-year-old Sneider Mejia, are wanted on charges of attempted murder, robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon for the stabbing of Detective Jose Mercedes last week. Their identities were revealed at an unrelated press conference on Tuesday.
Authorities say the two men approached Mercedes on an e-bike at around 1:45 p.m. near 3174 Rochambeau Ave. in Norwood as Mercedes was grabbing items from the trunk of his car.
