Michelin-Starred Restaurant Alleges Massive Theft by Celebrity Head Chef

The accusations were outlined in documents filed Tuesday in a Brooklyn Court

One of New York City’s most renowned chefs is accused of pilfering hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of plateware, cooking equipment and high-priced wine from Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare, a highly acclaimed restaurant with three Michelin stars.

The allegations against celebrity chef Cesar Ramirez were laid out in documents filed in a Brooklyn court Tuesday.

In a statement sent through a spokesperson, Chef’s Table owner Moe Issa said he has “incontrovertible proof” that Ramirez stole from his restaurant.

Some of the theft was caught on camera after Issa installed security cameras, court documents say.

In his statement, Issa also accused Ramirez — who was head chef at Chef’s Table until he was fired in July — of “engaging in systemic fraud and deception in a blatant attempt to sabotage my restaurant while starting his own.”

The accusations echo allegations made in Issa’s response to a defamation lawsuit Ramirez filed over the summer. The documents filed Tuesday also accuse Ramirez of stealing the Chef’s Table customer list and using it to promote his own restaurant, which has yet to open.
