NYC removing some popular school lunch menu items due to budget cuts, report says

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – New York City will remove some popular school breakfast and lunch items due to oncoming budget cuts, according to a recent report by Chalkbeat. The city Department of Education (DOE) will thin out February’s school cafeteria menu by cutting out pricier food items, like cookies, chicken dumplings, roasted chicken thighs, guacamole and salsa, and bean and cheese burritos, according to an email from a school food official that was obtained by Chalkbeat.
