Jersey City police investigate double-shooting in area known for violence

Two men were shot Sunday night in an area of Jersey City historically known for violence. The shootings occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. in the area of Rutgers Avenue between Cator and Chapel avenues, a part of the city known for gang activity. The first victim, a 56-year-old, told police he was driving near Chapel and McAdoo Avenue when someone fired shots at his car, police said in radio transmissions.
