Boy, 12, tripped onto subway tracks in Brooklyn: MTA source

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 12-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after falling onto the tracks at a Brooklyn subway station Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The child tripped and fell onto the northbound tracks of the L line at the Metropolitain Avenue-Lorimer Street stop at around 8:30 a.m., according to police and an MTA source. The conductor saw the boy but he couldn’t stop the train in time, the source said.

The boy rolled out of the way and was able to get back on the platform, according to the source.

He was taken to the hospital with minor stomach injuries, police and the source said.

Kristen Murphy was on her way to work in Manhattan and called 911 as bystanders and transit police rushed to help him.

“[The train] stopped in the middle of the platform. It was chaos,” Murphy then recalled the moment everyone took a deep breath, “I heard his voice. Thank God. He kept saying he was ok. He’s a brave little boy.”

The MTA believes, the boy tripped and fell onto the tracks as the train was pulling into the Lorimer Street station Tuesday morning during rush hour.
