23-year-old man dead after being shot multiple times in Brooklyn; no arrests

Police are searching for the gunman who fatally shot a man at a bustling intersection in Crown Heights Wednesday night.

Officers responded to shots fired near Union Street and Utica Avenue at around 6 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a 23-year-old man covered with multiple gunshot wounds all over his body.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The gunman is said to have fled the scene on foot.

Mayor Eric Adams, who was speaking at a town hall in Brooklyn, said the dispute started inside a smoke shop before it spilled out into the street.

“Cannabis shops have become extremely problematic shootings,” he said.

Eyewitness News spoke to half a dozen witnesses off camera, who all heard multiple gunshots before a crowd of people ran for their safety.

None of them felt comfortable going on camera due to the fact that this was the second fatal shooting in the area in less than 48 hours.

A candlelight vigil sits right across the street for a 21-year-old man, who was shot and killed just around the corner from the scene.
