NEW YORK (PIX11) – As snow covered New York City’s streets Tuesday morning, it also slowed some subway lines to a crawl.
L trains were delayed Tuesday morning in both directions due to the storm, and track maintenance further delayed trains entering and exiting the Eighth Avenue station, transit authorities said.
Some Eighth Avenue-bound L trains were not running past 14th Street-Union Square as of 10 a.m., officials said.
Northbound N trains were running on the local track in both directions between 59th Street and 36th Street as the MTA stored some cars underground during the storm, officials said just before 10 a.m.
Mechanical problems are affecting several trains including the No. 7 after a train was removed from service at Grand Central station.
The Tottenville-bound Staten Island Railway was also running with delays Tuesday morning after a tree fell onto the tracks near New Dorp, according to New York City Transit. Several Staten Island express busses are also running with delays.
