Torso found in Bronx apartment building: NYPD

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A human torso missing its arms and head was found in an apartment complex in the Bronx on Tuesday night, according to police and sources.

Police found the man’s torso with the attached legs in the apartment while conducting a wellness check at 979 Summit Ave. at around 8:30 p.m., authorities and sources said. EMS pronounced the man, 44, dead at the scene.

A man, 30, was taken into custody as a person of interest at the scene, sources said.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner of the City of New York will determine the cause of death. There are no arrests and an investigation remains ongoing, police said.
