The smaller format stores will be about a quarter to half the size of a typical Whole Foods Market. They will offer produce, prepared foods and other grocery items.

“Whole Foods Market Daily Shop will provide a convenient option for grab-and-go meals and snacks, weekly essentials, and a quick, easy destination to pick up ingredients to complete a meal…” a Whole Foods press release stated.

The first 300 customers in line when the Upper East Side store opens at 8:30 a.m. will receive a limited-edition tote bag, cold brew coffee from Nguyen Coffee Supply and muffins from Abe’s.

Whole Foods has announced plans to open its new smaller format stores at two other locations in Manhattan, including 409 East 14th St. at the StuyTown development and 301 West 50th St. in Hell’s Kitchen. The company hasn’t announced when the other two locations will open.
