NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a man who they say stabbed a subway rider over an accidental bump at an East Village station last week.

The NYPD released surveillance images Sunday of the suspect they’re after in Friday’s stabbing.

The 29-year-old victim was walking down the stairs of the First Avenue L-line station at East 14th Street around 8:45 p.m. when he bumped into the other man, police said.

The bump sparked an argument between the two men, after which the suspect brandished a knife and plunged it into the victim’s back, according to police.

The suspect fled the scene, while the victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
