2 NYCHA employees accused of punching former Gov. Paterson, 70, and stepson

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Two NYCHA employees are accused of punching former New York Gov. David Paterson, 70, and his stepson during a confrontation on the Upper East Side on Friday, police said.

Diamond Minter, 34, and Travor Nurse, 40, were arrested Monday, days after two boys were busted in the same incident, according to the NYPD. Minter and Nurse were charged with gang assault while Nurse was also charged with assault causing injuries to a person older than 65, authorities said.

“Gov. Paterson and his family are happy that these two adults were caught.  Friday night was a traumatic experience for the Governor and his stepson and they are looking forward to putting this entire thing behind them as quickly as possible,” Sean Darcy, a spokesperson for Paterson, said Monday.

The group allegedly attacked Paterson , who is legally blind, and his stepson, 20, Anthony Sliwa, during an argument near Second Avenue and East 96th Street on the Upper East Side at around 8:35 p.m., according to the NYPD.
