Brooklyn power back on after outage leaves thousands in the dark

Thousands without power after dump truck takes down wires in Brooklyn 00:49

NEW YORK — A power outage in Brooklyn left thousands of customers in the dark Thursday morning.

Con Edison said a dump truck hit an overhead pole around 7:45 a.m. Thursday in East Flatbush.

The outage impacted more than 8,000 customers in East Flatbush, Midwood and Tilden.

Service was restored a couple hours later, the utility said.

Customers are encouraged to report their outage and check out Con Ed’s outage map here .

The utility serves New York City’s five boroughs, except for the Rockaways, and Westchester County.

Chopper 2 flew overhead as crews worked to make repairs at the intersection of Glenwood Road and Troy Avenue in East Flatbush.
