NYC school worker, 75, arrested for shoving 14-year old student: ‘Completely unacceptable’

An elderly paraprofessional was arrested for allegedly shoving a teen student who was allegedly acting up inside a Brooklyn public school on Monday, law enforcement sources said.

Luis Benalcazar, 75, is accused of pushing a 14-year-old boy on the staircase of PS 373, also known as Brooklyn Transition Center, on Ellery Street near Throop Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, according to the sources.

The teen became “disorderly” while walking up the stairs — prompting Benalcazar to push him into the railing, causing a minor injury, the sources said.

Benalcazar was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, cops said.

The injured student was treated at the scene and refused medical attention when his guardian arrived, sources said.
