Big changes at U.S. Postal Service start next week. What you should know.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The United States Postal Service plans to make changes to the way it delivers mail beginning April 1, in an effort to lower costs, the agency says.

The moves are expected to save the USPS at least $36 billion over the next 10 years through reduced transportation costs, improved plant productivity, and elimination of unnecessary facilities, the agency said in a media announcement.
