At least one person has been killed and six others hospitalized following a violent incident in Brooklyn, New York. Authorities say a suspect, involved in an apparent domestic dispute on 84th Street in the Bensonhurst area, attacked several family members with a meat cleaver .
The NYPD responded swiftly, leading to an officer-involved shooting in which the suspect, reportedly armed with a meat cleaver, was shot and killed by police. The victims included four children who are aged 8, 11, 13 and 16, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
Emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, and the scene remains active as investigators work to determine the full extent of the violence. The incident occurred at 10:30 a.m.
Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the individuals involved, but authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the domestic dispute and the sequence of events leading to the tragic attack.
