BAY RIDGE — ATTORNEY GENERAL LETITIA JAMES secured more than $3.2 million from eight Nissan dealerships, including Bay Ridge Nissan in Brooklyn, for overcharging 1,700 New Yorkers on end-of-lease vehicle buyouts, her office announced Tuesday. Bay Ridge Nissan will pay $23,624 to 46 consumers and a $11,960 penalty for adding junk fees or inflating prices, part of a broader $4.5 million recovery from 15 dealers.
“Buying a car is a major financial decision, and no one should have to worry about dealers using illegal junk fees to drive up the price,” said Attorney General James. “These car dealers misled their customers with bogus fees and other costs to cheat them out of their hard-earned money.”
