Anthony Varvaro’s name among 68 added to N.Y. memorial for law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island’s own Anthony Varvaro was among the 68 names of law enforcement personnel recently added to the New York State Police Officers Memorial at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

The announcement came on Tuesday from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who also announced that May 6 will further be recognized as Police Memorial Day.

Varvaro, a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police officer, was killed on Sept. 11, 2022, while on his way to work as a member of the security detail for the 21st commemoration of 9/11…
