STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Suhail Vales, a New Springville single mom who treated the injured as the World Trade Center crumbled around her on Sept. 11, 2001, died May 18 after an eight-year battle with head and neck cancer.
Vales’ fight against the rare neuroendocrine tumor ended the day after her 48th birthday.
